Homeowner Loses $5K Claim of “Shoddy Work” by Port Coquitlam Flooring Company
Homeowner provided a recording of her squeaky floors, but it wasn’t enough proof of improper vinyl planking installation, according to the Civil Resolution Tribunal. A woman who was frustrated with “intermittent” squeaks in her flooring has lost her $5,000 claim against a Port Coquitlam flooring company.
Heather Andruski failed to prove her case against Absolutely Floored, the Civil Resolution Tribunal ruled in a Feb. 23 decision.
Andruski sought compensation, claiming her floors were uneven and squeaked after the business installed vinyl plank flooring more than two years ago at a cost of $7,282.99 plus tax for the work.
Reno Gone Wrong: Toronto-based Contractor Takes $82K, and Disappears
A Toronto-based renovation contractor who held about $82,000 in deposits without completing work has left a customer convinced he’ll never see any of the money again despite taking legal action.
The project began in late 2021 when the customer, whose first name is Jeff, hired Miller Building Group, operated by Todd Miller.

Kitchen Renovation Unearths Paintings Nearly 400 Years Old
Murals believed to be nearly 400 years old have been discovered at an apartment in northern England following a kitchen renovation.
Luke Budworth, 29, his partner Hazel Mooney, 26, and their dog Leonard had temporarily moved out of the one-bedroom apartment in the cathedral city of York while their new kitchen was being fitted in December.
Homeowners Found a 300-Year-Old Well In Their Kitchen During a Renovation
“A little over a month ago, we came across something absolutely amazing underneath our kitchen floor,” TikTok user Detectorist Morty (@mortylad) said in a March video. “Little did we know we’ve been walking over a 300-year-old water well every day for the past 20 years.”
